Although that's a bit late, BUT (at least I think), Oda might start a new line of power of Awakening!
Remember, when Doffy first mentioned that there is a new form of power of the DF - that is Awakening, he changed nearly the whole island into strings. However, I think that might have appeared much earlier in the show, for example - when the whole Punk Hazard was covered by nothing but lava and ice, it might well be that Akainu and Aojiki have used their Awakening. (or perhaps even earlier, when our mysterious dragon summoned a storm to save luffy)
Now firstly, how does Awakening work?
Let's start from the basics, a Devil Fruit power also generally affects the clothes that the user is wearing. But now, it goes further, to the area where the Devil Fruit user is residing. So, in other words, the land will become one with the user. Technically, that means you need to have utmost control over your DF, before DF's power will awaken to that stage.
Besides, a DF has wavelength's that can be affected by medicine (see Chopper). Indeed, that wavelength can be copied into artificial matters (like Vegapunk and possibly Jack).
So, my guess is, if one has achieved a certain level of control over the DF, the density of it's wavelength strengthen so as to affect the area.
Properties necessary for awakening
So for now, we know that Awakening will affect the whole area (although I suspect Awakening might also just strengthen your own powers), but let's stick to the whole area effect first:
(1) to affect a property - you have to affect the area, that is to say, Zoan's have little to no chance for awakening
(2) if that is the reason, then Paramecia might/might not have awakening, then you must have have changing property effects for that, so Beta Beta no mi and Gomu Gomu no mi might be ok, while Hobi Hobi no mi might not awaken
(3) if that is the reason, Logia might all have Awakening.
