Debut[]

This is the ship that Chinjao had when he fought Garp in chapter 719, so we should change the debut.

Since this was previously discussed in edits, I'm taking it here to avoid edit warring.

There are no evidents that it is the same ship. It could very likely be a different ship after the flashback one was damaged. Rhavkin (talk) 15:00, August 24, 2017 (UTC)

That could be said about many ships. It's more than likely enough that the ship remained the exact same ship. Why would they suddenly their ship to an identical one? What extra benefit for the story would that have? Aurora[1] | Yes? 21:36, August 25, 2017 (UTC)

We've got a ship that Chinjao used. We've got an identical ship that his grandson Sai uses, in the same capacity of office. It's not a stretch of the imagination that they're the same.

That's the thing, they're not identical judging by the image from above, and the Happo Navi infobox images (old and new): (Flashback Ship=FS; Current Ship=CS)

  • FS-square plain sail with net pattern, CS-several rectangles sails with writing.
  • FS-wide inward keel, CS-slim outward keel.
  • FS-black bow (the part behind the figurehead) with white marking, CS-white bow with black marking.
  • FS-black or white front rails with a circle, CS-black front rails with a white square with a circle.
  • FS-clear upper figurehead, CS-three barrel cannon.
  • FS-top of mast connected with ropes to sail, CS-standalone mast.
  • (anime)FS-orange figure head, CS-white figurehead.

Not to mention the facts that the FS was shown damaged after the fight with Garp, and that the Sun Pirate also has two ships with very similar design. With the amount of pride the Chinjao Family showed, and the reputation of the Happo Navy, it could very well be that they use the same design several times. They're not perfectly identical, no. But I've made a quick image to show where they're very very similar.

Now, it's possible that it's a common design for ships to have that figurehead, unusually forward gun ports next to it, and snake patterns below them. But it's not common enough that we've seen it anywhere else.

I'd also add that we've seen Oda redraw things later on plenty of times.

Even in that image comparison the only similarity is the figurehead, the others are what I wrote in the third and fourth bullet point. But anyway, isn't it just as speculative to say it's the same ship as to say it's different? Rhavkin (talk) 20:34, August 31, 2017 (UTC)
