Relationships[]

Hina[]

Shine serves under Hina in her Black Cage Corps. He is very respectful towards her, as shown when he saluted her as he gave his report. However, he is also afraid of her at times, especially when she yells at him angrily.[4]

Abilities and Powers[]

As a Chief Petty Officer, Shine has some authority over lower Marine ranks.[2]

History[]

Arabasta Saga[]

Arabasta Arc[]

Shine first reported to Hina that Fullbody and Jango had successfully captured an enemy ship after seeing them do a strange dance to impress her. Afterwards, he reported to her that the Arabasta Kingdom coast had been surrounded, but that the Straw Hat Pirates's ship was not where they thought it would be in Erumalu. Hina then angrily asked if they escaped, and Shine nervously defended that their escape was impossible, as they completely blocked the mouth of the Sandora River. Hina then ordered him to search for them more thoroughly.[4]

The following events are Non-Canon and therefore not considered part of the Canon story.

Shine later found the whereabouts of the Straw Hats' ship and rushed to Hina to alert her that they were currently at the upper reaches of the Sandora River. In response, Hina told him to prepare for battle.[5]

Concludes non-canon section.

Summit War Saga[]

Amazon Lily Arc[]

Shine was seen arriving with Hina behind Fullbody and Jango at Marineford upon the summons to reinforce the Marine Headquarters ahead of the execution of Portgas D. Ace.[6]

Anime and Manga Differences[]

In Episode 218, the anime equivalent of Chapter 214, he reports to Hina after they have found the whereabouts of the Straw Hats; however, the manga only shows someone reporting this to Hina, but does not show that this is Shine.[5]

In Episode 421, Shine is replaced by a random Marine when the Black Cage Corps arrive at Marineford.
