The Sabre that Shanks uses appears to have no special attributes to it aside from its large size and strength enough to survive combat with Whitebeard and Mihawk.
It was used to fight Juracule Mihawk on various occasions before Mihawk ceased their rivalry. Shanks often keeps it on his right side, even after losing his left arm to the Lord of the Coast, suggesting he may have been ambidextrous beforehand.

Although Mihawk lost interest in fighting Shanks after he lost his arm, Shanks is still a powerful swordsman despite his handicap. His skills with this Sabre is strong enough to clash with Whitebeard's bisento and cause the heavens to split.[1]
