Samuel Bellamy
From One Piece Encyclopedia
Samuel Bellamy (February 23, 1689 - April 27, 1717) also known as Black Sam, was a pirate notable for his gentleman nature alongside with his raiding of 50 ships over a period of one year. He is possibly the influence of One Piece pirate Bellamy the Hyena.
[edit] One Piece
It is unconfirmed from Oda, but Bellamy the Hyena seems to have derived his name from this famous pirate. However, compared to the real Bellamy, the fictional one is nothing like his gentlemanly, democratic namesake. Bellamy the Hyena is an arrogant, ruthless pirate who believes not in dreams but in the value of treasure and whatever you can get, making him the antithesis for Marshall D. Teach, who believes in the power of dreams. (compared to the real Blackbeard, Edward Teach, who was crewmates at one point with the real Bellamy)
