Oruç Reis (also called Barbarossa or Redbeard) (: Aruj or Oruç Reis, : عروج بربروس, : Arrudye; c. 1474 – 1518) was a and Bey (Governor) of and Beylerbey (Chief Governor) of the . He was born on the island of Midilli () in today's Greece and was killed in a battle with the in . He became known as Baba Aruj or Baba Oruç (Father Aruj) when he transported large numbers of refugees from to ; he was known through in as Barbarossa (which meant "Redbeard" in Italian).

He was the older brother of the famous Turkish privateer and Ottoman admiral .

In One Piece, his name is the basis for Urouge.^[1]
