Mohmoo is a giant sea cow from the Grand Line.[4][5] It is classified as a Type A creature, "Big Friendly".[6]

Appearance

Mohmoo is a giant sea cow. It has a big round nose with a gold nose ring, cow-esque face and horns, green spots throughout its body,[2] and also, due to its seal-like structure, an ability to swim easily.[1]

Personality

Despite being gigantic, it behaves cowardly, but it is very obedient to whoever controls it. It almost cried when it was ordered to fight the Straw Hats at Arlong Park, but it was warned by Arlong, which made it attack the Straw Hats.[7] Its behavior has not changed even after two years. After seeing the Straw Hats again during the journey to Fishman Island, it quickly fled in terror,[8] but the Caribou Pirates easily forced it to turn back by giving it a lump on the head.[9]

Abilities and Powers

Not much is known about its abilities, but it destroyed Gosa Village.[4] It has a huge appetite that can scare away people.[citation needed]

History

Past

Some time in the past, Mohmoo was brought over to the Conomi Islands from the Grand Line by Arlong and his crew.

East Blue Saga

Arlong Park Arc

Some time before its encounter with Luffy and Sanji, Mohmoo destroyed Gosa Village.[4]

Sanji Tries to Feed Mohmoo

Sanji tries to feed Mohmoo.

At the main gate of Arlong Park, Hatchan, having prepared a roast pig, called for Mohmoo, which emerged from an underwater cave. However, it surfaced next to Monkey D. Luffy, Sanji, and Yosaku who were eating. Yosaku recognized it as a beast from the Grand Line and postulated it was probably hungry. Luffy initially attacked Mohmoo when he thought it was going to steal their food, but Sanji stepped in and attempted to feed the beast to keep with his oath of always serving the hungry. However, when Mohmoo tried to bite Sanji's hand, it was beat up by Sanji in retaliation.[10] Mohmoo was used to tow their boat to the island.[11]

Later, during the battle at Arlong Park, Hatchan called it to fight the Straw Hat Pirates. It was initially scared to face Luffy due to the previous incident and almost forfeited the battle, but, being threatened by Arlong, it and the other Arlong Pirates rushed to attack Luffy, who grabbed and spun Mohmoo around the area, taking out most of Arlong's forces. Mohmoo itself was thrown out of Arlong Park and in the process was knocked unconscious.[12] The people of Cocoyasi Village were astonished by him.[13]

Fishman Island Saga

Fishman Island Arc

Sometime after the events at Arlong Park, Mohmoo wandered into the waters near Sabaody Archipelago where it was captured by the Caribou Pirates. They used it as a means of advanced sea navigation. By putting a collar around its neck they could use it as a harness and hook it to the front of the ship, allowing it to pull them.[14]

Nami Recognizes Mohmoo

Nami recognizes Mohmoo.

After moving the Caribou Pirates' ship close to the Thousand Sunny,[15] Mohmoo recognized Nami, Sanji, and Luffy. Frightened, it swam away, pulling the ship with it and leaving Caribou alone on the Thousand Sunny with the Straw Hat Pirates.[8]

Mohmoo later returned at full speed pulling Caribou's ship with another lump on its head. When the Kraken destroyed the ship, Mohmoo was freed from the Caribou Pirates' control and swam away.[9]
