For the Marine with the same name, see Mashikaku.

Mashikaku is an anime-only character that appeared in the Long Ring Long Land Arc fillers as a member of the Foxy Pirates.[1]

Appearance[]

Mashikaku Casual Outfit

Mashikaku's casual outfit.

He is a large and rectangular man, with tan skin, and thin limbs. He wears a purple and black shirt and a white undershirt. He also wears red suspenders and baggy brown pants, as well as a striped cap and the typical Foxy Pirate mask.

During the Run Roller Around race, he wore the Foxy Devils team uniform, which was a purple and black shirt with a blue  letter "f" on it and white and red pants.  He also wore skates similar to caterpillar tracks that move very slowly.

Personality[]

Mashikaku is a very quiet and unintelligent man. He almost never speaks, except to tell an opponent that they will be unable to pass him. When he is then passed and his defense fails, he barely responds.

Abilities and Powers[]

Mashikaku's large size is used as a major defense mechanism, giving him the nickname of "Giant Wall". However, he doesn't to have much physical ability besides being able to defend with his massive body. He can also use his large body to deflect and repel balls used in the dodge ball match.

History[]

Long Ring Long Land Arc[]

Mashikaku appears in the Hit and Dead Ball and Run Roller Around race segments. He won against Nami in the roller race with the help of Porche's hypnosis abilities.[1] When defending in later rounds of the race, Nico Robin and Luffy were able to jump him using their respective Devil Fruit powers, the Hana Hana no Mi and the Gomu Gomu no Mi, making him utterly useless.[2]

In the Hit and Dead Ball match, he was an outside court member of the team. When Foxy launched the ball at Luffy and the captain dodged it, it hit Mashikaku in the abdomen. He reflected the ball back into the court and tried to hit Luffy with it. Chopper used Guard Point to defend his captain but was knocked out of bounds in the process.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Like the Marine of the same name, his name means "Really Square", a very accurate description of his body.
  • Mashikaku may have been inspired by a Japanese yokai called the Nurikabe, a monster that essentially resembles a living wall.
