A marine base, or a marine home base is a home headquarters in local areas of the sea. Marines would stay in the base and patrol the local area. The base houses all weapons, ships, important documents, and artillery. The bases have living quarters with bunkbeds and a kitchen and common area. Most bases have numbers, but some of them have proper names, possibly in addition to a number. Some bases are classified as branches and some are fortresses, designated by a capital letter G before the number. So far, all bases designated fortresses have been on the Grand Line, while those designated as branches have been in the four Blues. Also, some bases are attached to major port cities, and thus bear only the city's name.
