The island is lush and fertile, with many different plants growing. Its main characteristic is its mushroom-shaped mountains, and many different types of mushrooms grow there, hence its name. Even its wildlife physically resembles mushrooms.
The Foxy Pirates lured the Straw Hat Pirates to the island by pretending to be shipwrecked and disguising themselves as women. When the Straw Hats entered the island, Foxy challenged them to a Davy Back Fight rematch. Luffy accepted, and the first round began, where the crews had to eat mysterious mushrooms. However, the mushrooms were Drowsy Mushrooms, which caused the people who ate it to lose motivation. Indeed, it was nothing more than a trap by Komei, who acted as a Foxy Pirate but was actually an undercover Vice Admiral. Komei managed to capture Zoro, Sanji, Porche, and Hamburg, and escaped the island on the Sexy Foxy.
The Straw Hats then made an alliance with Foxy and his crewmate Kansho as they left the island to find their captured crewmates. Brook, Chopper, and the other Foxy Pirates stayed behind as they looked for the Rebound Mushroom, which would counteract the Drowsy Mushroom. They succeeded in finding it on the skin of a creature, and they were surrounded by Marines, but managed to defeat them. The pirates then used the steed, Kinoconda, to head for Nebulandia. After their victory on Nebulandia, they returned to Kinoko Island, where they parted ways.
