Fish-Man Island Saga
Return to Sabaody Arc
After two years, Usopp escaped the Boin Archipelago and returned to Sabaody Archipelago. At a bar, he easily tied up a group of impostors, the Fake Straw Hat Crew, with his new Pop Green weapon. Usopp then met and reacquainted with Nami, who happily gave him a hug. Usopp stated that he graduated from the "weakling trio" and became a warrior who is not afraid of anything, but immediately afterwards was surprised to see people posing as Luffy and himself, the Fake Luffy and Fake Sogeking, respectively. After Nami gives the impostors a thunder Weather Ball, which she picked up from her stay on Weatheria, Usopp and Nami leave the bar to avoid the impact.[16]
Usopp and Nami then ran into Tony Tony Chopper, who was searching for "Robin". After telling Chopper that the Straw Hats that he encountered were fakes, they headed on back to the Thousand Sunny. Usopp and Chopper were amazed when Franky revealed his new upgrades. Usopp was pleasantly surprised when he heard from Silvers Rayleigh that Monkey D. Luffy was already on the archipelago.[17]
After arriving at Grove 42, the entire crew had assembled. When Boa Hancock intercepted a Marine ship, Usopp was surprised to see one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and commented that she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. He was also shocked to learn that Luffy had been sent to Amazon Lily and had befriended Hancock. With the Marines held back by the Straw Hat Pirates' new allies, the crew submerged into the ocean and headed for Fish-Man Island.[18]
Fish-Man Island Arc
Undersea Voyage
While sailing under the ocean, Usopp and the crew marveled at the site of the underwater world. He and Chopper had to keep Luffy and Roronoa Zoro from doing anything that might endanger the crew and hit them multiple times to keep them from trying to fish. The crew decided to sit down and eat one of Luffy's lunchboxes as Franky explained how the ship was kept safe for almost two whole years by Bartholomew Kuma.
With the help of their seacow, the Caribou Pirates caught up with the Straw Hats and prepare for battle. Caribou quickly sets foot on the Thousand Sunny. Before his crew can follow, his seacow, which turned out to be Momoo, fled in fear after seeing Nami, Sanji, and Luffy. The Straw Hats then tied up Caribou as he begged for mercy. Caribou claimed that he was a victim and not a pirate but Usopp saw through his lie. Usopp then listened to Nami's explanation of Sea Currents, but quickly lost interest (much to her annoyance). The crew soon encountered the Downward Plunge, and immediately after, the Kraken.
Usopp tried to discourage Luffy from attempting to tame the Kraken, but to no avail. When Sanji managed to hold back a major nosebleed, Usopp was impressed. Soon after, the Caribou Pirates ship caught up to the Sunny, but, much to the shock and terror of Caribou and the Straw Hats, it was easily crushed by the Kraken. The sea monster then turned its attention to the Sunny, and Usopp had to hold back Zoro and Luffy, knowing that their attacks would burst the bubble. After using Chicken Voyage to dodge a tentacle, Caribou introduced Flutter Kick Coating to the Straw Hats, enabling the Monster Trio to fight the beast. Usopp at first scolded Caribou, but when Caribou asked him if it was better to fight the Kraken while they were on the ship or away from it, Usopp wholeheartedly cheered the Monster Trio to fight as far away from the ship as possible.
After the Sunny is again assaulted by the Kraken, Franky revealed his Rocket Launcher, much to Usopp, Chopper, and Luffy's amusement. The Monster Trio soon defeated the Kraken and Usopp marveled at how powerful they had become. The Straw Hats then noticed a large shark near the Kraken, before all of them are pulled down by the Downward Plunge. The Monster Trio were separated from the ship since they were not wearing life-lines. Usopp lost consciousness on the way down, and when the Sunny reached a depth of around 7000 meters, he came to. It was too dark to see anything and it was very cold. Franky lit up the ocean with his Franky Nipple Lights (which for once does not impress Usopp), revealing a giant sea monster.
While sailing through the Underwater Underworld, Usopp and the others searched for Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji. When they realized that Caribou had untied himself, Usopp looked worried. Franky assured everyone by sealing Caribou in a barrel. When they arrived at the Deep-Sea Volcanic region, they encountered an angler fish, which attempted to eat the Thousand Sunny. Usopp and the others were saved by an Umibouzo named Wadatsumi. The crew then heard someone singing and the captain of the Flying Dutchman, Vander Decken IX, appeared. Vander Decken ordered Wadatsumi to punch the Sunny, but the Umibouzo was stopped by the newly-tamed Kraken, Surume. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji were then reunited with the rest of the Straw Hats but the undersea volcano started to erupt. Nami noticed that the Log Pose pointed down a pitch black crevice, so the Sunny was steered into it to escape the eruption as the heat created wild currents.
As they went down the crevice, the eruption created a landslide. Without any hesitation, Usopp shot another Pop Green: "Green Star: Saragasso", sending out a massive sea kelp that was as big as the Kraken to hold back the landslide before it could hit the ship. After reaching 10,000 meters below the surface, Usopp and the rest of the crew finally saw Fish-Man Island. Usopp and Chopper then showed concern for Sanji because seeing the mermaids could put his life in jeopardy since he has a tendency to have nosebleeds. Hammond of the New Fish-Man Pirates approached the Straw Hats and gave them two options: join the New Fish-Man Pirates or die. Usopp said that he will refill the ship's fuel for the Coup de Burst while Franky handled the steering.
Trouble in the Underwater Paradise
Luffy rejected Hammond's offer of joining the New Fish-Man Pirates and the fish-man prepared to attack the Thousand Sunny. Usopp told Franky via Den Den Mushi that the fuel was loaded and ready to go. He, along with the rest of the crew, was thrust forward and pressed against the ship as the coating bubble deflated. Upon entry to Fish-Man Island, Usopp was whisked away by the powerful water currents, along with the rest of the crew. He, Luffy, Sanji, and Chopper, were all rescued by the mermaids. He awoke shortly before Luffy did, regaining consciousness in Camie's apartment.
Usopp quickly filled Luffy in on what had happened and how they ended up with Camie. Camie introduced the four pirates to some of her friends, the Medaka Mermaid Quintuplets. When Sanji began to think about all the mermaids in the mermaid dormitory, Usopp suspected that he was about to get another nosebleed. Sanji quickly regained his composure, yelling at Usopp that he is in control and that he vowed to not waste time with the wasteful acts of bleeding everywhere and losing consciousness while on Fish-Man Island and that he should be rewarded. Usopp replied that the chef did not put up a very compelling argument.
When they got on the turtle elevator with Camie to visit her friends on the higher floors, Usopp and Sanji listened while Camie explained the social layout of Fish-Man Island while Luffy and Chopper stared out at the view. While riding, Usopp asked about the straw-like tunnels of water he sees. Camie explained they are water roads, allowing for quicker travel around the island. When they reached the mermaid cove, Usopp exclaimed that it is like a fairy tale that came true. When Sanji declared that he had found the All Blue, Usopp questioned whether or not that was true. When a mermaid took Sanji by the hand, Sanji broke into tears, saying he could never be this happy that today must be the day he would die. Usopp, alarmed by such a statement, contradicted it and asked Sanji what happened to him during their two years of separation.
When Sanji says he wanted to live on Fish-Man Island, Usopp asked if he really meant it. When Luffy said he wanted to see Jinbe, Usopp was surprised that Luffy knew him and even more surprised when Luffy called him his friend. When the Neptune brothers—Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, and Manboshi—arrived, Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper hid behind cover while Sanji was covered by a mermaid. The Neptune brothers were searching for people who had entered Fish-Man Island illegally, but the mermaids denied that they had seen any intruders. As the brothers were leaving, Sanji suffered his potentially fatal nosebleed. Usopp declared that all the excitement Sanji was suppressing had just exploded. When the Ammo Knights advanced, Usopp watched Sanji while Chopper tried to negotiate with them. He also joined Chopper in asking for donor blood.
Hammond and his group then appeared and told the story of how Fisher Tiger supposedly died: After a gruesome battle, Fisher Tiger suffered a critical blood lost and could have been saved with a blood transfusion, but humans refused to help him. Hammond went on to say that because of the humans who left Fisher Tiger to die, there is a law that prevents fish-men and merfolk from sharing blood with humans. Hammond and his group attempted to capture the four Straw Hats, but Luffy repelled them. When Luffy discouraged a sea monster just by raising his hand, Usopp was surprised that the monster would acknowledge its loss so easily.
The Straw Hats then escaped on the royal gondola after Camie stole it. Usopp told Camie that she did not need to apologize for Sanji's condition, that it was all brought about by impure, obscene thoughts, pointing out the smirk on Sanji's face. He then commented on how the discrimination that Camie and Hatchan were subjected to on Sabaody two years ago had very deep roots. He also could not believe that Sanji's nosebleeds would lead to such an emergency situation. Camie then took the group to the town port, Coral Hill.
At the town port, Camie and the four pirates found shelter in Madam Shyarly's Mermaid Cafe. Madam Shyarly provided them a room where they could treat Sanji. Usopp and the others luckily came across Splash and Splatter, a pair of okamas who happily agreed to donate blood to Sanji. As Sanji was resting with Chopper watching over him, Usopp, Luffy, and Camie went and met Madam Shyarly. Usopp and Luffy marveled at Shyarly's crystal ball and then Usopp slapped Luffy when he asked if mermaids can poop.
Camie then took Usopp and Luffy to the front entrance of the Mermaid Cafe where they reunited with Brook and Pappag. Before boarding a fish taxi, Usopp and Brook noticed a wanted poster for Vander Decken. While riding on the taxi, Pappag revealed that the Vander Decken from the legend died on Fish-Man Island and the one that the Straw Hats encountered was his grandson. They then come across a candy factory with Big Mom's Jolly Roger on it. After passing the factory, they arrived at Pappag's house.
Usopp and the group soon learned that there is a Criminal clothing store on the first floor. As soon as they entered the store, they found Nami making complaints for the high prices. Pappag said that the Straw Hats could have whatever they wanted for free. After hearing this joyful news, they emptied the store, much to Pappag's dismay. They then heard a commotion outside the store and found that King Neptune had arrived to meet them. Usopp and the others were then invited by the King himself to his castle, Ryugu Palace.
The Straw Hats, Camie, and Pappag rode on Megalo while Neptune rode on Hoe. Camie asked Usopp if he was sure it was ok for her and Pappag to go to the palace too. Usopp said Neptune told them to bring their company so it was fine. As Neptune explained the Sunlight Tree Eve, the source of light on Fish-Man Island, Usopp considered it like the boss of the Yarukiman Mangroves at Sabaody. Usopp took notes about it to tell Franky later as the Sunlight Tree Eve could have a connection to the Treasure Tree Adam. Upon arriving at the palace, everyone looked at it in awe. After entering the castle, Luffy wandered away from the group in search of food. After finding out that Luffy went away, Usopp commented that Luffy could not stay still.
After receiving word of the mysterious disappearances of the mermaids from Mermaid Cove and of Madam Shyarly's ominous prediction, the palace guards and personnel took action against the Straw Hats. Usopp, Nami, and Brook battled against the attacking guards. Usopp was surprised to see Zoro, who was locked up a while ago, join the fight.
The Straw Hats eventually subdued and tied up the king, the ministers, and the royal guards. Usopp and his crew mates then had a little argument. Usopp said that they should have intimidated the guards and run instead of going all out like Zoro did. Usopp then asked where Luffy is and was annoyed when Nami asked where is the treasury. Usopp was further annoyed when Brook suggested singing.
The Neptune brothers returned to the palace only to find it under the control of the Straw Hats. Since the princes were unable to enter, Fukaboshi spoke with Zoro through Den Den Mushi. While Zoro made demands, Nami asked for one billion berries, annoying Usopp once again. Usopp then listened to Fukaboshi as he revealed Jinbe's message. After hearing noises coming from Shirahoshi's room, Neptune begged the Straw Hats to check on the princess to ensure her safety. Usopp then watched Brook dash off to her location while carrying the Minister of the Right.
When they returned, the minister informed Neptune of Shirahoshi's disappearance and Brook yelled that Hody Jones's pirates were invading the palace. Usopp panicked asking what to do. Zoro gave a simple answer, "cut them". After they defeated the pirates, Neptune demanded that Shirahoshi be returned to him. Usopp pointed out that they did not kidnap the Mermaid Princess. During their conversation, one of the pirates managed to open the connection corridor. Usopp and the others (save for Luffy) then encountered Hody Jones and Vander Decken IX. The Minister of the Left accused the Straw Hats of plotting with the enemy. Usopp yelled back at him, saying that they were invited to the palace and then inquired about the invaders.
Once Decken learned from Neptune that Shirahoshi was no longer in the palace, he quickly went after her. When Jones explained his intentions of finishing what Arlong started, Usopp realized that the New Fish-Man Pirates were united under Arlong's will. Jones then crushed a palace wall, flooding the palace in the process. He launched his Yabusame attack, injuring Neptune and some of his soldiers. Usopp narrowly avoided the attack. Brook told Usopp that he noticed Nami went off somewhere and the water is draining his strength. Jones then ordered his crew to attack, but Usopp held them back by launching a Pop Green that spawned a foul-smelling plant. Jones remained unfazed, although his crew retreated. Usopp and Brook untied the guards and Zoro cut Neptune's chains. Usopp then carried Brook away before the room was completely submerged. Usopp was worried about Zoro because he does not think Zoro is capable of fighting a fish-man underwater. Usopp looked underwater to check up on Zoro and found out that Zoro had dealt a striking blow to Jones with one slash.
Once Jones was staggered, Usopp, Brook, and Zoro grabbed onto Neptune as he prepared to make an escape route. Neptune created a vortex and cleared a path. The ministers and the Ryugu Palace guards managed to escape. However, Neptune's back gave in, putting him, Usopp, Zoro, and Brook in a dangerous situation. Hoe arrived to save them, but before they could leave the palace, Jones, revitalized by Energy Steroids, stopped Neptune with one hand. Usopp, Zoro, Brook, and Neptune were then captured by the New Fish-Man Pirates.
Battle for Fish-Man Island
Usopp, Zoro, and Brook are then locked in a cage in a room filling with water. Hody plans to drown them after he executes King Neptune. The three eventually escape captivity and appear in Gyoncorde Plaza with the rest of the Straw Hats, preparing to fight against the New Fish-Man Pirates. When Franky mentions a new weapon in the Soldier Dock system, Usopp hops in along with Nami, Chopper, and Pappag. Usopp then comes out of Soldier Dock 5, manning the cannon on the Brachio Tank V. When a pirate was about to attack Franky, Usopp stops him by shooting him in the face with a cannon ball.
After the tank goes down in a pit made be Daruma, Franky arrives and throws the three out to combine the Kurosai FR-U IV and Brachio Tank V to form the General Franky. After he and Chopper get amazed by the robot, he notices he is out on the battlefield now, but stays cool. He defeats a group of pirates with a new Pop Green, Bamboo Javelin which sprout out from the ground and impale the pirates. He then thanks Heracles for his two years of training.
A little bit later, Usopp calls out for Chopper while the latter is underground with Daruma. Unbeknownst to him, Dosun is behind him ready to attack. Fortunately, Chopper catches the fish-man's scent and tells Usopp to get down. He does so and Chopper repels Dosun. Usopp attacks Daruma by launching an explosive Pop Green into the tunnels. With Daruma smoked out, Usopp recalls the time he and Chopper fought Drophy, another enemy who could dig underground. Usopp and the enraged Daruma prepare for a battle.
Daruma tries to taunt Usopp by saying that he is a burden to his crewmates since he is firing duds at random. Instead of allowing the insults to get to him as he once would in the past, Usopp grins as he states that he has laid out a trap that will allow him to defeat Daruma in three steps. When Daruma yells for Usopp to stop saying nonsense, Usopp states that he used to lie a lot but now he can actually do what he claims.
After Luffy's victory against Hody, Chopper is seen rampaging in his Monster Point, much to Usopp's surprise. Usopp nervously tells Chopper that the situation is not that serious for him to go like that. Then, Chopper turns to him and says that he is alright, meaning that Chopper is in fact still conscious.
After Chopper tells him that he can control Monster Point for three minutes, Usopp compliments him and continues his battle with Daruma. As the fish-man launched at him, Usopp unveils his Pop Green traps: Humandrake (which trips him up) and Trampolia (which sends him high in the air). Usopp then shoots his Midori Boshi: Impact Wolf to defeat Daruma with a massive shockwave. After all the leaders of the New Fish-Man Pirates have been defeated, the Straw Hats look into the sky as Luffy tries to destroy Noah. When the Sea Kings appear and stop Noah from falling, saving the ship and the island at the same time, everyone on Fish-Man Island celebrates.
The After Battle Celebration and Departure
The Straw Hats then rest during the aftermath of the battle. After reuniting with Luffy, the crew leaves the plaza because they do not want to be hailed as heroes. A royal guard catches up with them and through Den Den Mushi, Neptune invites the crew to a banquet. The crew then party at Ryugu Palace with the royal family. After the party ends, he is sitting with some of the other Straw Hats, Camie, Hatchan and Shirahoshi.
After learning that Luffy declares war on Big Mom, Usopp is horrified by the ordeal. As they prepare to leave, Usopp and Chopper are afraid of Big Mom's wrath and are crying about becoming enemies with her. As everyone on Fish-Man Island bid the Straw Hats farewell, the crew (except Zoro and Franky) promises to take Shirahoshi to the upper world someday and the Thousand Sunny sails towards the New World. As they travel, Usopp uses his Hoshaku-Boshi to catch a sea monster to eat. When the crew is caught up in the White Storm, they are stopped by a group of whales and they help them reach the New World's surface and Usopp comments on how terrible the weather is.

Punk Hazard Arc
Arriving at Punk Hazard
Soon after entering the New World, the crew spotted an island surrounded by a sea of flames. The Straw Hats then received a distress call from someone who seemed to be in trouble and this person also mentioned something about a samurai. Usopp was then terrified of the danger that the caller was implying and much to his horror, Luffy decided to go save him. Usopp was then one of the three people (along with Zoro and Robin) who were chosen to accompany Luffy along to explore the island. After Nami created a road of clouds, they made their way to the island on the Mini Merry II. Usopp did not eat and he was completely apprehensive about landing on the island.[19]
He told them that his his fear of visiting islands was back, but they just acknowledge it, and let him know that they are already aware. When they reached the gates of the island, he reacted with horror when Zoro cut it down, trespassing further. He warned them both that they are going to inflict the wrath of the World Government, but then remembered they had already done so many times.[19]
During their exploration of Punk Hazard, Usopp commented on how odd it was that the mysterious caller mentioned something about being cold on the island even though all they have seen is flames. Usopp and the others were then surprised to see a dragon, a creature believed to be a legend.[19] While Usopp was afraid of the fire breathing dragon, he and the others heard voices that supposedly came from the dragon. Usopp took shelter with Robin while Zoro and Luffy fought the dragon. When Usopp used a pop green that enabled Zoro to jump up to the dragon, he cut the dragon's head off. They then found a pair of legs that were attached to the dragon. After Luffy pulled the pair of legs off, they found out that it could move on its own and talk, making the group realize that the voices they heard did not came from the dragon. Usopp and Luffy were shocked by this. The pair of legs then took off in pursuit of a Shichibukai.[20]
After the group cut up and ate the dragon meat and took the rest with them, they continued their expedition. Luffy decided to play with the legs, placing them on his back and pretending to be a centaur, even though the legs keep flipping him over. Zoro then drew the group's attention to a remarkable sight: a lake separating the flaming half of the island from a frozen, mountainous region on the other half. After the mystery of the caller saying something about cold is cleared up, Usopp then spotted a humanoid figure with wings.[21]
Luffy's group then received a call from Brook, who informed them that the Sunny had been taken to the frozen side of the island and that the other Straw Hats went missing. Usopp then witnessed Luffy fighting and defeating a centaur. A second centaur attacked Luffy, but Robin subdued it. Usopp then picked up a Den Den Mushi and found "CC" written on it. Usopp concluded that the centaurs are part of some organization. The group then decided to go to the frozen side.[22]
To cross the lake separating the two sides of the island, Usopp formed a boat from Pop Greens. While the group was riding on the boat, the centaur that Luffy had just fought jumped after them and informed his boss that the pirates were heading his way. Usopp then remembered the mystery caller mentioning his boss. The group then saw a group of centaurs waiting for them and Usopp speculated that this "boss" mentioned in the distress call was the centaur leader.[23] The centaurs then fired their bazookas at the water around the boat, capsizing it and leaving Usopp and Zoro to hold up Luffy and Robin. Zoro moved to attack the centaurs, but was instead dragged underwater by sharks. The centaurs prepared to attack the Straw Hats again, but they were then stopped by Brook, giving Luffy, Zoro, Robin, and Usopp enough time to escape the lake. After they emerged from the freezing water, they planned on stealing coats from the centaurs.[24] After defeating them and stealing their coats, the group used Brownbeard as transportation to Vegapunk's former research facility. They soon arrived at the scene where Law and Smoker had just fought.[25]
After Luffy talked to Law, the group quickly got away from the Marines and headed to the back side of the facility and met up with Franky, Nami, Sanji, Chopper, and the children that were held prisoner in the research facility. The Straw Hats then tied up Brownbeard and brought each other up to speed on the current situation.[26] To better help determine who is who, Usopp created small masks for Chopper, Franky, Nami, and Sanji. They then interrogated Brownbeard and learned about a man known as Caesar Clown.[27]
Before long, several of the giant children started to feel pain, saying that they need candy usually given to them in order to make the pain go away. However, Chopper then stated that the candy contains a drug that the children became addicted to and Luffy's group learned that the children have been experimented on. One of the giant children hit Luffy and the others went on a rampage, forcing Usopp to put them to sleep. Luffy's group decided to help the children and find Caesar. The group tied up the giant children so that they could not destroy anything else. Luffy, Usopp, Franky, and Robin then left Chopper and Nami to watch the children while they headed to Caesar's lab.[28] While they were gone, Luffy's group heard an explosion coming from the hideout and turned back to help Nami and Chopper. When they returned, the Yeti Cool Brothers opened fire on the group and kidnapped Nami, who they thought was Franky.[29]
Alliance with Law and Confrontation with Caesar Clown
Luffy and Franky went after the brothers and Usopp and the rest wee shocked that Franky turned into Monster Point and started to go on a rampage. After the Yeti Cool Brothers were defeated, Luffy, Franky, Nami, and Law returned to the hideout.[30] Usopp and the rest are surprised that Luffy and Law formed an alliance. After Law returned Franky and Chopper to their bodies and put Nami in Sanji's body, the Straw Hats and Law then formed a plan to capture Caesar while helping the children.[31]
Usopp and Nami stayed behind to watch the children while the rest went to the research facility. The children later woke up and started acting crazy again due to their withdrawal symptoms. Nami and Usopp tried to figure out how to calm them, but the children were getting more out of control. They started demanding "candy" to make them feel better and started rampaging. Caesar Clown then showed up behind Nami and Usopp and offered the children candy if they return to the research facility.[32] As Caesar lured the children to him, Usopp and Nami tried to stop them only to get beaten down. Usopp then tried to attack Caesar with a Firebird Star but to no avail. Caesar simply suffocated Usopp and Nami, leaving them to be beaten by the giant children. They are saved when Brownbeard regained consciousness and attacked Caesar out of revenge for his betrayal. Caesar quickly subdued Brownbeard and the two Straw Hats and took back the children.[33]
Usopp later woke up while Nami helped him. Usopp mistook Nami for Sanji yet again, and was disappointed that it was not him rather comically.[34] After Smiley exploded and released poisonous gas on the island, Usopp and Nami were seen riding on Brownbeard, who survived Caesar's attack. While they fled, they joined up with Zoro's group. Once they reached the laboratory, Brownbeard managed to get the group through the shutters which Zoro and Kin'emon managed to cut open.[35]
After the G-5 Marines plugged up the hole made by Kin'emon and Zoro, they prepared to arrest the Straw Hats and Brownbeard. Law interrupted them and told everyone present about a way off the island but that they will only have two hours to escape. Everyone then split up into three teams. Usopp went with Kin'emon, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, and Brook while the G-5 Marines went with Tashigi. Usopp's group decided to rescue Momonosuke and the rest of the children. Usopp told Zoro about Luffy's earlier defeat at the hands of Caesar Clown, and Zoro mentioned his group's defeat at the hands of the Yeti Cool Brothers. When Zoro commented that they could not afford to let their guards down anymore, Usopp calmly stated they always manage to survive. He laughed when his captain, after just promising to be serious, used Gomu Gomu no UFO.[36]
Usopp continued on, and witnessed Brook, Zoro, and Kin'emon do a three way attack on the G-5 Marines, calling them the "Three Helpful Musketeers." Usopp rode on Brownbeards back with Nami, Sanji, and Robin. After Caesar's henchmen used a cannon to blow a hole in the wall of Building A, the gas poured in. As the gate to the passageway to Building B closed, Usopp and the others made haste to escape Building A. They narrowly escaped to the passageway, but a group of G-5 Marines turned to stone, which was a noble sacrifice for Tashigi. They then left Tashigi and the surviving Marines to mourn and continued through the passageway while riding on Brownbeard's back.[37][38] After they entered Building B, the small dragon, after attacking Tashigi's group, attacked the Straw Hats, Kin'emon, and Brownbeard. After the dragon got caught in Nami's Thunder Trap, Usopp attacked it with his Rafflesia attack, followed by Robin performing Quarento Fleur Quatro Mano. Brook and Kin'emon then delivered the finishing blow.[39]
Usopp and the group then found Chopper (in Monster Point) trying to prevent the children from getting their candy.[39] Regardless of his efforts, the children beat him down and ran pass him when the Rumble Ball wore off. Usopp, Kin'emon, Nami, Robin, Zoro, and Brook quickly went to Chopper's aid and ran after the children to the Biscuits Room.[40] Once they reached there, they encountered Monet. When Zoro asked who it was, Usopp said that it was the bird woman he had seen before.[41]
Usopp, Brook, and Kin'emon separated from the group to see if they could find Momonosuke, and Seastone handcuffs, which Robin asked for.[41] While searching for Seastone handcuffs, Usopp stumbled into R Building Second Floor, "Secret Room". This surprised Caesar's underlings who recognized him as one of the Straw Hat Pirates. After the underlings opened the air vents to the first floor to allow Caesar to absorb his gaseous weapon, they finally saw his true colors when they witnessed him killing his own men. As they grieved over Caesar's betrayal, Usopp approached them and asked them to let him use the control panel. Usopp was then forced to subdue them since they did not comply.[42] After assessing the control panel, Usopp informed Chopper of the quickest way to Building R. After everyone reached Building R safely, Usopp and Caesar's former subordinates boarded the rail car.[43]
Usopp and the others were able to escape outside and found Franky battling Baby 5 and Buffalo in his General Franky mech. Usopp and the others gushed over how cool his robot was, but Nami and the other women are left unimpressed. Seeing themselves outnumbered, Buffalo and Baby 5 grabbed Caesar and tried to make a hasty retreat. Law prepared to stop them, but Nami and Usopp insisted on doing it themselves. Nami created an enormous thundercloud above the pair which shocked them with a lighting strike. The attack knocked out Baby 5 and Buffalo, and caused Caesar and them to fall from the sky. Caesar then pleaded with Buffalo to save him, but multiple projectiles fired by Usopp quickly took him out. Caesar tried to escape on his own but the last projectile turned out to be seastone handcuffs which quickly cancel out Caesar's powers. With this, Doflamingo's subordinates were defeated and fell into the ocean. Law then proclaimed the first step of his plan completed.[44]
Aftermath
After the defeat of Buffalo and Baby 5 and the capture of Caesar Clown, Usopp had a feast with everyone else. Later, as Tashigi and her men took the children away from Punk Hazard, the Straw Hats left with Law, Kin'emon, and Momonosuke.[45]
While sailing to their next destination, Dressrosa, Luffy explained that he and Law formed alliance to take down an Emperor. Usopp asked for clarification, and Luffy responded by saying that their crew and Law’s crew formed an alliance which Usopp voted against. Law proceeded to explain about Doflamingo and his connection and influence in the underworld.[46] Law continued to explain the next goal of their plan which is to cut down Kaidou’s forces as much as possible, specifically his army of synthetic devil fruit users. Usopp asked if that means he could create an infinite amount of devil fruit users. Law replied that this is correct and informed them that the current number of Synthetic devil fruit users are about 500, which made Chopper, Usopp, and Nami vote against the plan, albeit without success.[47]
During the evening, Usopp and Chopper went on guard duty. Usopp remained nervous that Doflamingo may attack at any moment.[48] On the next morning, everyone read the news about Doflamingo's resignation from the Shichibukai. They also saw that the paper explains about Luffy and Law's alliance and the alliance between Kid, Hawkins, and Apoo.[49]
Dressrosa Arc
The Next Objective
Law contacted Doflamingo to discuss the next part of the negotiation. However, Luffy interrupted the call and angrily spoke to Doflamingo concerning the crimes Caesar committed against his own subordinates and the kidnapped children. Doflamingo then put Luffy into a trance by saying that he has something that he would desire. Usopp snapped Luffy out of the trance while Law informed Doflamingo that they will bring Caesar to Green Bit. After Law finished his discussion, Usopp had a meal with the rest of the crew while Kin'emon and Momonosuke told them the story about how they were shipwrecked and drifted to Dressrosa, how Momonosuke was separated from his father, and how Kanjuro was captured. The Thousand Sunny later approached Dressrosa.[50]
After disembarking, the group splits into three teams. Usopp is part of the team responsible for delivering Caesar to Green Bit.[51] Law's group stop by at a northeastern cafe near the bridge wearing disguises like Luffy's group. They were getting information on the passage to Green Bit and learned that the bridge is surrounded by Fighting Fish that can even destroy iron. The man they were talking to warned them that no one who crossed the bridge to Green Bit has returned. Usopp freaked out and suggested to deliver Caesar somewhere else, but Law remained firm in his decision. They then spot CP0 walking by.[52]
As Law's group crossed the bridge, they were attacked by the fighting fishes. Law told Usopp to release Caesar from his handcuffs so he can help fight off the fishes. Law also revealed that he holds Caesar's heart as an insurance. Since the use of his devil fruit powers deplete his strength the more he uses it, Law tasked Usopp, Robin, and Caesar with defending the bridge, wanting to save all of his strength should he confront Doflamingo. Despite their efforts, the bridge was destroyed. A fighting fish attacked them from the front, but it was then captured by some unknown people. The group then used Caesar to fly to the other side.[53] After reaching Green Bit, they discovered a Marine ship on the island. Usopp and Robin scout the island and spotted a group of Marines searching for someone. The two then witnessed the Marines suddenly stripped by the mysterious inhabitants of the island. Robin used her powers to catch the unseen people and deduced that they are dwarves.[54]
Company with the Dwarves
While Robin was talking to the dwarf she caught, she and Usopp were put to sleep by the other dwarves and taken to the Tontatta Kingdom. Usopp later convinced the dwarves that he was the legendary hero who came to help them.[55]
Usopp was then seen having a feast with Robin and the dwarves. The sniper made more claims such as using Haki to defeat 50,000 enemies on Fish-Man Island and him being a descendant of Montblanc Noland. Usopp enjoyed being treated as a celebrity until the dwarves requested him to lead them in the fight against the Donquixote Family.[56]
Usopp later asked Leo about why they were against Doflamingo and the dwarves revealed that 500 of their friends, including their princess, were forced to work in a dark factory located under the Corrida Colosseum. Usopp nervously declared that he could help as the dwarves prepared for their assault on the factory.[57]
When the dwarves completed their preparations, they marched to Dressrosa through an underground passage, riding on an army of insects while Usopp and Robin rode on linear foxes. Shortly after the beginning of the march, Gancho appeared out of Robin's cleavage and explained to Usopp and Robin that the dwarves' history with Dressrosa went back 900 years.[58]
The group from Green Bit later gathered at the Riku Royal Army Headquarters hidden beneath the flower field. As Thunder Soldier gave his speech to the dwarves about overthrowing Doflamingo, Usopp thought about listening to their plan and finding the right time to run.[59]
After Sanji and Nami's group escaped Green Bit with Caesar and the Thousand Sunny, Sanji contacted Usopp and Franky and told them to take care of Robin.[60] Afterwards, Usopp listened to Gancho as he explained more about the history of the dwarves centuries ago including their enslavement by the Donquixote Family and their liberation by the Riku Family after the Void Century. Once Gancho finished with his story, Thunder Soldier explained about an incident ten years ago which caused the former Riku King to lose all trust from the citizens. Usopp then asked Thunder Soldier who he was. The toy soldier revealed himself to be Rebecca's father.[61]
Usopp was surprised at this revelation. He started wondering how Thunder Soldier could be related to the former king, but the toy soldier ignored him and started telling the story of Dressrosa's tragedy in detail.[62]
After Thunder Soldier finished explaining the story behind Doflamingo's past takeover of the kingdom, Usopp was deeply shocked at how Doflamingo passed himself off as a hero while Riku Doldo was made a villain. Usopp assumed that Doldo was charged for the crimes he supposedly committed and put to death. Thunder Soldier explained otherwise, saying that Doldo still lived because his daughter, Viola, would aid the Donquixote Pirates on the condition that the king was spared. Thunder Soldier describes how the citizens that were turned into toys were forgotten by their families and loved ones and also mentioned that some of the toys are beginning to lose their memories as well. However, they still remembered their hatred for Doflamingo and Thunder Soldier planned to use that fact to recruit them for the rebellion. Franky was all up for it, but Usopp was less optimistic. He quietly told Franky that they should just destroy the factory and leave the country rather than picking a fight with Doflamingo. Much to Usopp's dismay, Robin was also willing to join the fight. Thunder Soldier then expressed his despair regarding Doflamingo's fake resignation. As he went into detail about how at first they were overjoyed at his "resignation", he mentioned the fact that this being false information was what drove he and the dwarves to plan a rebellion. Usopp, Robin, and Franky looked on in shock as they realized they were the catalyst of the imminent rebellion.[63]
When Zoro finally made contact with Luffy at the Corrida Colosseum, Usopp, Robin, and Franky engaged in a conference call with both Sanji and Luffy's group. Having made sure that the dwarves were not going to eavesdrop on their call, everyone was brought up to speed as they learned the true situation in Dressrosa. After Franky pleaded to Luffy, their captain then gave his approval to join the revolution against the Donquixote Family.[64]
During the skirmish at Corrida Colosseum, Kin'emon informed everyone that Law was defeated in battle by Doflamingo. Everyone was then shocked to hear that an admiral was present in Dressrosa and that the Sunny was under attack by the Big Mom Pirates, who were after Caesar Clown. As Sanji's group continued on to Zou and Luffy's group decided to take the fight to Doflamingo, Franky's group was left in charge of destroying the SMILE factory.[65]
Thunder Soldier then explained to Usopp, Franky, and Robin the plans for the upcoming assault, which he named Dressrosa Operation S.O.P. As the three Straw Hats wondered what S.O.P. meant, the soldier informed them about an underground world where the factory and trade port are located and they are going to infiltrate through an underground tunnel. Other than destroying the factory and the port, the key to the operation's success would be taking out Sugar, the Devil Fruit user who turned humans into toys. The Straw Hats learned that by defeating Sugar, her powers would be undone. After hearing that Sugar was a little girl, Usopp became optimistic in participating in the attack.[66]
Dressrosa Operation SOP
Usopp, Robin, the dwarves, and Thunder Soldier entered the tunnel to the underground world and made their way to the trade port. Usopp was carried through the tunnel by Leo, Bomba and Rampo, and along the way he learned about the Donquixote Pirates' hierarchy from the dwarves. While Franky attempted to enter the underground world through the toy house, Usopp, Robin, and the rebels infiltrated the trade port.[67]
After Thunder Soldier separated from the group to go to the royal palace, Usopp became nervous when the dwarves asked him to lead the charge. He panicked when two of Doflamingo's subordinates spotted him but the dwarves stripped them of their clothes and knocked them out. After Usopp and Robin put on their clothes to disguise themselves, Usopp thought to himself that he could take advantage of the dwarves' strength and then told them to go to the front lines as they made their way to the central tower where Sugar was located.[68]
Once they arrived at the officer tower, Usopp noticed toys exiting from the place, with Leo explaining to Usopp about the connection between the tower and the scrap place. They then infiltrated the tower and arrived at the room where Trebol and Sugar were located. Leo explained the strategy they devised to take down Sugar by placing a spice known as Tatababasco into her basket of grapes, hoping to trick her into eating it and knocking her unconscious. With Usopp's encouragement, Leo prepared to put his plan into motion. Meanwhile, Usopp, unsure of the plan, was thinking about running away if the plan failed.[69]
After seeing Trebol shot a fly between the eyes with his devil fruit powers, Robin stopped Leo from proceeding, knowing that the plan would likely fail as long as Trebol was with Sugar.[70] After Robin and Bian lured Trebol out of the tower, Usopp remained on the sidelines as the dwarves charged into the room. Usopp watched as their attempted assault failed as Sugar transformed some of the dwarves into toys and ordered them to kill all the intruders in the tower.[71]
Usopp was then surprised when a ship thrown by Trebol crashed into the officer tower he was still in. After the tower collapsed, Robin helped Usopp out of the wreckage. They then saw Trebol captured the dwarves with his sticky substance. They could only watch as Trebol tricked Leo into revealing who they were allied with and then ignited the sticky substance, causing it to explode, and throwing Leo a good distance away to where Usopp and Robin were. After picking Leo up, Usopp urged Leo to retreat, but the dwarf remained determined to complete the operation so Thunder Soldier can fight Doflamingo. When Usopp asked Leo why the dwarves put so much faith in Thunder Soldier, Leo revealed that the toy soldier's true identity is the legendary gladiator, Kyros.[72]
With the dwarves incapacitated and Robin transformed into a toy by Sugar, all hope lied on Usopp to complete the operation. However, Usopp decided to run from the scene and angrily asked himself why Franky was not coming.[73]
While Usopp was looking for a way out, he heard Trebol and the dwarves through a loudspeaker. Though Trebol was correct about Usopp deceiving them, the dwarves continued to believe in him, making Usopp feel more guilty for leaving them. When Trebol started stomping on the helpless dwarves, Usopp finally mustered his courage and revealed himself. He then revealed to the dwarves his true identity and admitted his deception towards them. Usopp declared that because of the dwarves' faith in him, he decided to risk his life and become their legendary hero. He then asked them to build a statue of him next to Noland's if he dies. Having found his resolve, Usopp fired a new attack, Midori Boshi: Platanus Shuriken, at Trebol, bisecting him.[74]
Despite his efforts, Usopp was badly beaten. Sugar then forced the Tatababasco spice into Usopp's mouth. Usopp started screaming in pain and made a horrible expression which both surprised and terrified Sugar to the point that she lost consciousness.[75]
With the primary objective of Operation SOP completed, the dwarves cried over Usopp's success. As he was tended to and thanked by Robin, Usopp gave the dwarves a thumbs up, saying that all went as he planned, much to the dwarves' amazement. He then told them his crew will deal with the rest and that the real fight was about to begin.[76]
The dwarves carried Usopp and ran from Trebol while Robin held him back. Hajrudin then picked up Usopp and held him high for all to see. Part of the roof collapses, which allowed a single sunbeam to shine down upon Usopp which caused the freed captives to look up to him even more. He attempted to ask Hajrudin to put him down, but everyone mistakenly believed him to say that he would lead them. After hearing them swearing to follow him, Usopp told them to destroy the SMILE factory.[77]
Robin introduced Usopp to Sabo, Koala, and Hack upon reuniting with the Revolutionaries.[78]
The Birdcage
Doflamingo trapped everyone on Dressrosa in his "Torikago" and forced them into a survival game. He coaxed them into going after twelve individuals by putting a price on their heads. Doflamingo placed the highest price of 500 million on Usopp's head, much to his horror. With Usopp's followers becoming enemies, Usopp, Robin, Rebecca, Bartolomeo, the Revolutionaries, and the dwarves fled to the surface.[79] Usopp's group (except for Sabo and Koala) later reached the colosseum stands, chased by a horde of people seeking Usopp's bounty.[80] They eventually arrived at the top of the old King's Plateau where they met up with Riku Doldo III, Viola, and Tank Lepanto.[81]
Usopp, Doldo, Viola, Tank, and Hack remained after Rebecca, Robin, Leo, and Bartolomeo later left to meet Luffy at the New King's plateau while the rest of the dwarves went to the SMILE factory to assist Franky. When the Dressrosa citizens started coming after Usopp and Doldo, Usopp began to panic.[82]
The group on the old King's plateau were later joined by Kin'emon and Kanjuro. When Kanjuro foolishly created ladders to the top of the plateau, Usopp gave the two samurais a beating. Usopp was then horrified when Viola informed them that Sugar had recovered.[83]
Usopp immediately decided to act as he remembered his dismay at forgetting Robin and went to the edge of plateau to begin preparations to snipe Sugar who was inside the castle before she could use her powers on Luffy and Law. Neither of them had seen Sugar before, nor were they picking up their Den-Den Mushi, so it became imperative that Usopp save them. He explained to his nearby comrades the urgency of the situation, and had Viola use her vision to find and describe what was going in the palace. Bit by bit, he gathered information from her, and had the rest of his companions hold back the citizens who came to capture him. Usopp hardened his resolve to go out to sea with Luffy and protect his comrades, even if they did not notice his very efforts. While taking aim, he awakened his Kenbunshoku Haki and clearly saw the aura of Sugar, making it possible for him to shoot at her accurately. He launched a doll of his face with the same expression that knocked Sugar out earlier, made by Kanjuro. After Usopp once again made Sugar lose consciousness, Viola praised him and congratulated him for his amazing feat. He himself was simply happy to have helped Luffy and smiled when he heard that Luffy and Law reached Doflamingo unharmed.[84]
Usopp was tied up by the Dressrosa citizens, but he was shocked when they soon decided to release him. The citizens realized that they were merely playing into Doflamingo's hands if they had continued. Usopp was once again shocked to see Admiral Fujitora, who decided to put his faith in Luffy like Riku Doldo III.[85]
As the battle against the Donquixote Pirates raged on, Usopp asked Viola about how many officers are left.[86]
While Leo and Kabu were on a mission to rescue Mansherry, Usopp learned about her healing powers from Viola and panicked when he heard that Mansherry was being forced to heal the defeated Donquixote Pirates' officers, including Sugar. Fortunately, Leo and Kabu managed to save Mansherry and prevented the revival of the fallen enemies.[87]
After hearing the news of Diamante's defeat from Viola, Usopp noticed King Riku leaving and asked where he was going. Doldo said that he would go to the city and do whatever he could to help the citizens. When Usopp noticed that Fujitora had left, Kanjuro told him he had gone to the city as well. Usopp was then seen screaming in terror as Pica made his way towards the King's Plateau.[88] He panicked when Pica prepared to crush everyone on the plateau but later cried in joy when Zoro destroyed the Pica statue and defeated Pica.
After Pica's downfall, Usopp pulled up Zoro from a ledge. He and Kin'emon then praised Zoro on his display of strength, but Zoro told them to save it for later, as Doflamingo was still standing.[89] While Doldo, Tank, and the citizens were leaving the Old King's Plateau, Usopp was surprised to hear about Law's defeat from Viola.[90]
When Doflamingo's Torikago started shrinking, Usopp placed his hopes in Luffy.[91] Hack later carried Usopp on his back while climbing down the Old King's Plateau. Once Viola explained the danger of staying at the plateau, Usopp panicked.[92]
They eventually reached the base of the plateau while Viola informed her father via Den Den Mushi that Doflamingo was the only enemy left.[93] As the Torikago came close to reaching the central streets, Usopp told the citizens to help those who were trying to slow down the Torikago.[94] When Luffy finally defeated Doflamingo and brought down the Torikago, everyone on Dressrosa celebrated Doflamingo's downfall.[95]
After Doflamingo's Defeat
Usopp and his group were later seen resting and recovering in Kyros' old house.[96] Three days after Doflamingo's defeat, Usopp and the other Straw Hats continued with their recovery. They were eating a meal as they heard the rumor about Rebecca's father. Bartolomeo then entered the house and informed them that the Marines were mobilized to pursue the Straw Hats. He also explained that there is an escape route planned for them. When the Marines were about to storm Kyros' house, Usopp and the others fled.[97]
After Luffy separated from the group to take care of unfinished business, Usopp's group went to the eastern port. While waiting for Luffy, they saw Issho approaching.[98] When Issho prepared to attack them with all the rubble from Dressrosa, the Straw Hats and their allies quickly fled to the escape ship. At that moment, Luffy arrived and attacked Issho.[99]
During the clash, Issho used his gravity ability to blow away Luffy, who was then caught by Hajrudin. The Straw Hats and their allies quickly fled across a bridge leading to a gigantic ship in the distance. Issho prepared to drop the rubble on them but was obstructed by the Dressrosa citizens who were pretending to chase after the pirates.
They eventually reached Orlumbus' flagship, the Yonta Maria. After hearing about Hajrudin's plan to bring the Giant Warrior Pirates, Usopp was awestruck. The following then pledged their allegiance to the Straw Hats: Cavendish of the Beautiful Pirates (including Suleiman), Bartolomeo of the Barto Club, Sai of the Happo Navy, Ideo of the XXX Gym Martial Arts Alliance (including Blue Gilly, Abdullah, and Jeet), Leo of the Tontatta Tribe, Hajrudin of the Giant Warrior Pirates, and Orlumbus of the Yonta Maria Grand Fleet.[100]
After the Straw Hat fleet was formed, the Straw Hats and company held a feast to celebrate their victory over Doflamingo.[101] After the feast, each of the leading allies received Luffy's vivre card and parted ways. Bartolomeo then brought the Straw Hats, the samurais, and Law to his ship, the Going Luffy-senpai. After Zoro noticed the Straw Hats' increase in bounty from a newspaper, Bartolomeo proudly showed Luffy's group their new wanted posters. Usopp was shocked that his new wanted poster shows his face.[102]
Whole Cake Island Saga
Zou Arc
Encounter with the Mink Tribe
During a hail storm, Usopp was shocked to learn that the Barto Club doesn't have a navigator, lack experience in sailing, and they usually called a granny who gives them useless advice. Therefore, Usopp, the other Straw Hats, the samurais, and Law needed to protect the ship. After one week of traversing through the dangers of the New World, the ship finally arrived at Zou.[103]
After finding the Thousand Sunny, the Barto Club bid Luffy's group farewell. Proceeding to search for Sanji's group, they climbed the giant elephant's left hind leg with a dragon that Kanjuro conjured. After the samurais explained that they were also searching for their ninja comrade, Raizo, the group saw something dropping towards them.[104]
The thing that was falling towards them happened to be a monkey. The monkey hit Kin'emon and Kanjuro, causing them to fall off the dragon. Despite being separated from the group, the samurais assured the Straw Hats that they were alright and will catch up to them eventually. The rest of the group considered turning back for them, but after they saw the dragon struggling to climb, they decided to continue towards the top. Once they reached the top, the dragon turned back into a drawing, much to Usopp's sadness and he got angry at Zoro and Law for not caring. They later entered a village and Luffy ran ahead of the group. While exploring the village, they saw signs of a recent attack before encountering two people from the Mink Tribe. Usopp noticed that one of them were wearing Nami's clothes.[105]
Right after a brief scuffle between Carrot and Zoro, Usopp questioned Wanda about her clothes and Nami's whereabouts. Wanda and Carrot proceeded to leave in a hurry to deal with an intruder at the Whale's Forest. Before leaving, Wanda explained to Usopp's group about where to find a "corpse" of their comrade. Usopp freaked out at Wanda's statement, thinking that the other Straw Hat members perished. However, the others did not believe that to be true and they continued exploring the island. As they explored the Mink Tribe's civilization, they found it completely deserted with more signs of a recent battle.[106]
During their exploration at Claw City, the group experienced an eruption rain and they fled to higher ground. Once the rain passed, they surmised that it is a daily occurrence based on how the city is built. Usopp spotted Luffy with Carrot and Wanda and panicked, thinking that Luffy was captured. Law then teleported the group close to their location. Wanda then led them into Right Belly Fortress, where they reunited with Nami and Chopper. Usopp was surprised that the minks are actually friendly.[107]
While having a feast with the Mink Tribe, Usopp and the group were reunited with Brook, who explained that Momonosuke was safe but refused to leave his room. He also warned the group not to mention samurai or the Wano Country. Before he could explain the reason, he was interrupted by canine minks. Usopp then listened to Nami and Chopper's story about how they escaped the Big Mom Pirates before listening to Wanda's story about how Nami's group saved the Mink Tribe. After hearing that Prince Inuarashi awakened from his coma and wanted to meet Zou's benefactors, Usopp and his group went to meet him. On the way, Wanda began to explain to them about Jack's attack on Zou in more detail.[108]
During her explanation, Wanda revealed that Jack was searching for a Wano ninja known as Raizo. After Wanda finished with her recollection, Usopp was surprised that Jack and his group are subordinates of Kaidou. Brook then explained to his crew the reason why they should not mention samurai or the Wano Country.[109] When Luffy blurted out the ninja's name, Usopp, Nami, and Brook swiftly beat him up. They then arrived at the duke's home where they were introduced to Sicilian, who expressed his gratitude to the crew.[110] After entering the duke's home, they heard about a weapon Jack used against the Mink Tribe.[111]
Usopp was surprised when Inuarashi suddenly fell asleep. He then listened to Wanda's explanation about how Inuarashi and Nekomamushi are on bad terms with each other and that they rule Zou during the day and night, respectively.[112] After Wanda recalled the devastation caused by Jack and the Mink Tribe's salvation, the Straw Hats decided to visit Nekomamushi and the Guardians. They then traveled to the Whale Forest with Wanda and Carrot.[113]
After hearing about the circumstances concerning Sanji's departure from Zou, Usopp wondered what Sanji's family was like. Luffy decided to find Sanji, but the other Straw Hats was against confronting Big Mom without a plan. Once they arrived at the Whale Forest, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, and Brook paid a visit to Nekomamushi.[114] After making their acquaintance with the feline mink, they went to see Luffy, who was visiting Pekoms alongside Nami and Zoro. The Heart Pirates then arrived and Law warned them about the threat of Kaidou. Afterwards, Nekomamushi partied with both the Heart Pirates and the Straw Hats (except Franky, Robin, and Brook).[115]
Revelations and a New Alliance
On the next morning, Usopp and his group heard a bell ringing and realized that Kin'emon and Kanjuro had arrived. They quickly rushed to find them, fearing what would happen if the Mink Tribe meets the samurais. The Straw Hats managed to intercept Kin'emon, Kanjuro, and Momonosuke just as they arrived at Kurau City and tried desperately to keep them hidden. However, as Nekomamushi and Inuarashi were fighting, Kin'emon and Kanjuro revealed themselves. Contrary to what the Straw Hats expected, the Mink Tribe welcomed the samurais and revealed that Raizo is safe. The Straw Hats were stunned to learn that the minks knew about Raizo all along and went to great lengths to keep him hidden despite the abuse they suffered.[116]
The Straw Hats were further shocked when Kin'emon revealed that Momonosuke was not his son, but rather the heir to the daimyo of Kuri. Usopp and Zoro became enraged when Momonosuke embraced Nami, who was fine with it due to deducing how wealthy his father must be. Inuarashi and Nekomamushi then took the Straw Hats, Law, and the samurais to Raizo's location in a secret area inside the whale-shaped tree. As they journeyed there, Usopp and the male pirates began fantasizing on what Raizo would be, imagining him to be a stereotypical ninja. When they saw Raizo, they were shocked at his ugly appearance, but still begged him to perform tricks. Raizo initially refused, but relented after the Straw Hats began sulking. They were then awestruck as Raizo performed his ninja arts.[117]
Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper then accompanied Kin'emon, Kanjuro, and Raizo as they stood outside the Whale Tree, expressing their sorrows as they saw the state Zou was in after Jack's attack. When Robin deciphered the red poneglyph hidden in the Whale Tree, Nekomamushi called them back in. Inuarashi then explained to the Straw Hats about the four Road Poneglyphs and they listened in anticipation as he revealed how they can lead to Laugh Tale. When Nekomamushi revealed that Kaidou and Big Mom each possessed one Road Poneglyph, Usopp, Chopper, Nami, and Brook were deeply shocked. Usopp was delighted to hear that they can copy the information on the poneglyphs using gyotaku, but Luffy wasn't interested in that approach, causing Usopp to lash out at him. The Straw Hats were then surprised when Nekomamushi revealed that Momonosuke's ancestors created the poneglyphs. However, the samurais explained that Momonosuke never inherited the knowledge of the poneglyphs due to the execution of Lord Oden at the hands of Kaidou and the shogun of Wano. The Straw Hats also learned that Oden was part of Roger's crew and had been on Laugh Tale with him as well as the Beasts Pirates' objective in obtaining the secret that Oden knew.[118]
The samurais explained Oden's will to open the Wano Country to the world and they went on a journey to gather allies to fight Kaidou and the shogun of Wano. When Kin'emon asked for Luffy's help, Usopp was excited to have new allies. Luffy declined, causing Usopp to lash out at him again. When Luffy agreed after Momonosuke humbly made the request himself, Usopp watched Luffy formed an alliance with the samurais and the Mink Tribe.[119]
Right after leaving the secret room, Usopp and the others learned that Inuarashi and Nekomamushi traveled with Oden and had been on the ships of both Whitebeard and Roger. The alliance decided to split up to accomplish different tasks and meet up again at Wano. However, before they could start their operation, they felt Zou shaking and heard Zunisha crying.[120]
As everything shook around them, they witnessed Luffy and Momonosuke's ability to hear Zunisha's voice. They then heard from Momonosuke that Jack returned to Zou and started attacking Zunisha. On Momonosuke's command, Zunisha sank Jack's fleet with one blow. With the threat of Jack ended, everyone became calm again.[121]
Usopp later gave Nami a new clima-tact and was dismayed when she tested out its capabilities right away. As the Sanji retrieval team departed from Zou, everyone, except for the Straw Hat members left behind, were shocked when Luffy jumped off Zunisha with his party.[122]
Wano Country Saga
Wano Country Arc
Infiltration in Wano Country
Usopp and his group later infiltrated Wano. He was told by Kin'emon to avoid drawing attention until the alliance was ready to strike. While incognito, he worked as a merchant[123] and his task was to help find and gather Kin'emon's allies.[124] Usopp later read the news of Luffy's fight with Kaidou and was greatly shocked.[125]
Sometime after Luffy was taken by the Beasts Pirates, Usopp worked to deliver Kin'emon's secret message to his allies.[126] After Sanji opened up a soba noodle stand, Usopp, Robin, and Franky visited him and ate soba noodles together. Later, some thugs from the Kyoshiro Family came and provoked Sanji. Usopp and Robin backed away as Sanji and Franky defeated the thugs. The group then got acquainted with a girl named Toko, a kamuro for the courtesan Komurasaki. After the girl left, the old woman that Robin was training under appeared and told the group more about the courtesan.[127] As the courtesan was passing through the Flower Capital, Usopp, Franky, and Sanji were there to watch.[128]
Chaos and Complications
When Drake and Page One arrived at the Flower Capital to avenge the Kyoshiro Family, Usopp, Franky, Sanji, and Law fled from the Beasts Pirates to avoid discovery. However, with Page One rampaging in search of Sanji, the chef went to confront the Headliner.[129] When Sanji activated his Raid Suit, Usopp and Franky marveled at the transformation and Law explained about the suit's capabilities to them. As the fight between Sanji and Page One continued, Usopp, Franky, and Law fled to Ebisu Town.[130]
After the scuffle in the Flower Capital, Usopp, Franky, Law, and Sanji hid in Ebisu Town. While discussing the current situation in Wano Country, Usopp and Franky got annoyed with Sanji's sudden interest in going to a bath house.[131] Usopp, Law, and Franky later met a man named Tonoyasu. After hearing that they were friends of Zoro, Tonoyasu invited them to his house and informed them that they just missed Zoro. The group then noticed that Sanji was no longer with them.[132]
Sometime later, Sanji returned to Ebisu Town with Nami, Robin, and Shinobu, but they learned that Law's crewmates were captured and the Beasts Pirates discovered the meaning of Kin'emon's secret and were arresting his supporters in the capital. While Law and Shinobu were in a heated argument, Usopp freaked out at Shinobu's suggestion to silence the captives.[133]
After Law left to rescue his crew, Usopp and Nami briefly talked about the plight of the captured Heart Pirates. They then spoke with an old woman, who told them about the town's three newcomers who used to live and commit crimes in the Flower Capital until they were exiled after they were swindled by Komurasaki. She then told them about Tonoyasu and how he had been helping the people of Ebisu Town.[134]
When news of Tonoyasu's capture was revealed, Usopp and his group gathered to see him being shown on a broadcast.[135] Usopp and his group then rushed to Rasetsu Town but only arrived after Tonoyasu was shot to death. After the execution, Usopp listened to Shinobu's explanation on why the people of Ebisu Town could only laugh despite their pain. He was horrified when seeing Toko hopelessly trying to revive her father using the toad oil she got.[136] After Zoro and Sanji started a commotion by protecting Toko from Orochi, Usopp joined in the ensuing chaos and helped fight Orochi's forces.[137] While fighting off Drake, Sanji handed Toko to Usopp, who quickly fled with her.[138]
Raid on Onigashima
After escaping Orochi's forces, Usopp, Robin, Brook, and Toko snuck out of the Flower Capital.[139] Usopp and Franky later joined the ship maintenance squad at Itachi Port.[140] Two days before the raid on Onigashima, Usopp and Franky head for Amigasa Village to meet up with the other Straw Hats.[141] After the Beasts Pirates attempted to bomb the Thousand Sunny on the night prior to the Fire Festival, Usopp and Franky worked to repair the sail.[142]
On the day of the Fire Festival, the Straw Hats, alongside the Kid and Heart Pirates, sailed to Tokage Port in support of the Scabbards[143] and entered the battle with the Beasts Pirates.[144] As Kanjuro flew away with Momonosuke, Usopp prepared to shoot Kanjuro down, but Kanjuro pelleted the alliance ships with ink arrows, forcing Usopp to take shelter inside the Thousand Sunny. The alliance was then attacked by a Beasts Pirates ship with long ranged cannons. However, Jinbe arrived and sank the ship, and the other Straw Hats were delighted to reunite with him.[145] With Jinbe officially part of the crew, the Straw Hats proceeded ahead of the fleet and took over the small fortress in front of Onigashima, although Usopp, Nami, and Chopper merely watched from the ship. Afterwards, the crew prepared to toast Jinbe joining the crew, but they were interrupted by the rest of the alliance sailing on ahead, so Luffy suggested that they wait to toast with everyone after they win, with which the crew agreed.[146]
The crew then arrived at Onigashima with the rebels, and Usopp put several guards to sleep before they noticed the alliance. He panicked when he noticed the samurai sinking their ships, but Jinbe planned to dock the Thousand Sunny in a hidden spot.[147] After disembarking, Usopp received a Beasts Pirates disguise from Kin'emon and piloted the Brachio Tank V, following Kin'emon's forces around the eastern side of the Skull Dome.[148] When the force reached the Pleasure Hall, Big Mom spotted the tank since it could not jump into the water with the samurai.[149] Usopp and Chopper fired a shot at the Emperor with the tank's cannon before fleeing from her.[150] The two managed to get away from Big Mom with minor injuries and the Brachio Tank V intact.[151] Later upon hearing of Momonosuke's upcoming execution, the two decided to go and rescue him and accidentally ran amongst the Numbers.[152]
While still inside the tank, Usopp and Chopper were picked by Jaki, but were later freed by Franky at the Live Stage. Usopp and Chopper were ejected from the tank as it docked to form General Franky. All of the Straw Hats then assembled on the stage.[153] When Page One and Ulti attacked several samurai, Usopp fired off a Midori Boshi: Dokuro Bakuhatsu So to stop them. However, a scared Usopp made his declarations against them while he hid behind Nami to make it look like she was the one who had done the talking. The two then ran away as Page One and Ulti pursued them.[154]
While fighting the two Tobiroppo, Usopp and Nami were severely injured by Ulti's headbutts, and she and Page One easily dealt with Usopp's Pop Green attacks. Ulti subdued Usopp by using her Ul-Zugan. Usopp was about to watch helplessly as Ulti prepared to kill Nami, but Ulti was suddenly bitten by Komachiyo, ridden by Tama.[155] Tama and Komachiyo then fled with Usopp and Nami while Hihimaru stayed behind to stall the two Tobiroppo.[156] The group also fed Tama's dangos to the Gifters, turning them into allies. As they were pursued by Ulti and Page One again, they went through the area where Franky and Sasaki were fighting. Usopp fed Tama's dangos to Sasaki's subordinates, turning them into allies as well.[157] Later on, Usopp and Nami heard Sanji's cry for help as it was broadcasted throughout Onigashima. Usopp mentioned that he heard Sanji's voice coming from a small cat wearing an eye mask, and he wondered what the mask was for.[158]
Page One eventually caught up and clung on to Komachiyo, which caused the two Straw Hats to desperately try to get him off, which Usopp managed to achieve by using Midori Boshi: Hanabibana, followed by Midori Boshi: Baku Bokkuri in an attempt to finish him off, though this ultimately failed. However, they soon ran into Big Mom who reacted hostilely when she saw the two Straw Hats, but suddenly turned gentle on seeing Tama. This delay ended up allowing Page One to reach them. Fortunately, Big Mom, having learnt from Tama that Okobore Town, the town that took care of her when she had amnesia was destroyed by the Beasts Pirates, she attacked Page One in rage, knocking him out with a single Haoshoku Haki-infused fist. This was witnessed by Ulti who became enraged and charged at them. [159]
Though Nami attempted to turn the two angry ladies against each other, when they realized that they were still both women targets, they attempted to continue fleeing on Komachiyo. However, Ulti then took out the Komainu with a single attack and slapped Tama when she started crying, earning both Linlin and Nami's united ire, with the latter striking the dinosaur woman with an electrical attack, much to Usopp's surprise.[160]
As the ladies dealt with Ulti, Usopp nursed Tama who was hurt from Ulti's slap. After Ulti was rendered unconscious from Big Mom's Maser Ho, the Straw Hats attempted to flee. At this point, Zeus appeared, and Big Mom heartlessly had his replacement Hera start eating him, before turning her attention back to the Straw Hats. She separated Tama from them, and then attempted to kill the two, when Zeus tearfully started declaring to Nami how sorry he was and attempted to use his last moments to slow Big Mom down for her, though he was easily squished. With his soul leaving his body, Nami attempted to help him, but Hera still seemingly ate Zeus. Tama then started running away with the Straw Hats, which made Big Mom resolve to kill her along with them. However, Kid then appeared and used Punk Gibson to smash her into the floor, claiming he would take over the fight and allowing the three to run away, much to their relief.[161]
The trio continued running to the stage, when they heard the first announcement that Kaidou "killed" Luffy they were shocked[162] but were quickly relieved when they heard Momonosuke's announcement of Luffy being alive and coming back, but were surprised to hear Zeus commenting that he was happy about the news from Nami's Clima-Tact.[163] As it turned out, Nami's last minute gift of Black Balls was not in vain, as it allowed Zeus's soul to accidentally enter the Clima-Tact just before he could be consumed by Hera, turning it into a sentient weapon. Just as the Straw Hats then managed to reach the stage, Ulti caught up and headbutted Usopp into the floor while also catching Tama. The pirate started strangling the girl, having realized that she was the reason that the Gifters and Big Mom turned on them. Thankfully, Usopp managed to separate the two with Midori Boshi: Saragasso, allowing Nami to use Raitei on her, though Ulti still managed to dodge it. Just as she was preparing to counter-attack, Zeus possessed the attack and homed in on Ulti knocking her out. Usopp then captured Bao Huang who was witnessing all this, with Midori Boshi: Devil, and had Tama use her to broadcast an announcement.[164]
Though Tama was initially intimidated by Queen, the two Straw Hats encouraged her, allowing the girl to activate her Kibi Kibi no Mi ability, turning the tide of the war. After briefly cheering for her success, the two Straw Hats fled with her.[165] As they protected her, they found Speed who carried them on her back.[166] When Haoshoku Haki, emitted by Big Mom from elsewhere on the second floor, caused some Beasts Pirates to collapse, Usopp quickly took advantage of that and claimed himself to have been the one to emit the Haki. He then labelled himself "Usohachi the Sibling-Hunter" and lied that he had defeated the two Tobiroppo, all while riding a Gifter with a Crocodile as his head, and then asked the Beasts Pirates present to join him.[167]
As he later escaped the flames together with Nami, Tama, Speed, Gazelleman, Daifugo, and Hamlet, who were carrying Komachiyo, both he and Nami heard a scream, and he was stunned when he saw Kin'emon's lower legs running around calling for help. Usopp grabbed the legs, but due to not having ears, the lower half could not hear Usopp and recognize him as an ally. When Kin'emon informed them about his request to save Kikunojo, Usopp took Hamlet together with Kin'emon's legs to the attic to reach the left tower.[168] As he reached the tower, he defended both Kin'emon and Kiku from incoming Beasts Pirates, but got annoyed when they expressed their wish for him to leave one behind and commit seppuku, which caused Usopp to berate them on their cultural view on suicide and pride. He declared that he sees cowardice as a chance to survive and even as an opportunity to grow stronger, which impressed them both. As the Beasts Pirates grew in numbers, Usopp was then saved by an incoming Izou, who overheard his speech, praising him for his words while taking the battle over for Usopp, telling him to take Kin'emon and Kikunojo to safety, which Usopp gladly accepted, carrying Kin'emon while Hamlet left with Kikunojo.[169]
Later, in another part of the basement, Usopp and Hamlet continued towards the Live Floor while carrying Kin'emon and Kiku. However, the fire spreading throughout Onigashima had now reached the basement. Usopp attempted to use Midori Boshi: Sprinkler to put out the fire, but the plant was consumed by the flames. Hamlet commented that he is just wasting his energy, to which Usopp retorted that he feels he needs to do something as he promised Izou that he would save Kin'emon and Kiku.[170] As they fled from the fire, they were suddenly swept up in the water that Raizo and Jinbe had flooded Onigashima with, which caught them by surprise.[171] With the castle now flooding, Usopp attempted to to keep Kin'emon and Kiku from drowning, while everyone above the basement cheered for Luffy to defeat Kaidou, which he accomplished just as Momonosuke safely landed Onigashima in Wano, near the Flower Capital.[172]
As everyone celebrated the news of Kaidou's defeat, Usopp brought the unconscious Kin'emon and Kiku to Chopper to treat.[173] Later, Usopp and the rest of the Straw Hats met Yamato, with Yamato stating the intention of joining the crew, which surprised them all, with Nami and Usopp being completely shocked by the news. Usopp then questioned Tama about what would happen to the Gifters affected by her powers, and she explained that her powers wear off after a month. They then watched Momonosuke's transmission from the Flower Capital as he announced the defeat of Kaidou and Orochi and declared himself the new shogun to all of Wano.[174]
A New Dawn in Wano Country
Seven days later, at Tokage Port, Usopp, Franky, and Minatomo relaxed after fixing up the Thousand Sunny, Victoria Punk, Polar Tang, and General Franky.[175] That night, Usopp and the others enjoyed the festival alongside the citizens and the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance.[176][177]
The next day, the Straw Hats met to discuss Pluton. Days later, they went to Tokage Port in preparation to depart from the country.[178] As thanks for helping Luffy, the crew agreed to take Caribou with them and drop him off at the first island they reach[179] but forced him to travel in a barrel.[180] Momonosuke, Yamato, and Kin'emon caught up to the crew before they could leave. Usopp passed down to Luffy a flag with the crew's Jolly Roger for Momonosuke. Afterwards, they set sail and bid farewell to Momonosuke and Yamato. Kid then goaded Luffy and Law into taking their ships over the Climbing Koi Waterfall.[181]
Final Saga
Egghead Arc
When Robin announced that the newspaper had arrived with their new bounties, Usopp panicked at seeing his bounty had risen higher.[182] After reading that Sabo had assassinated Cobra and Vivi had disappeared, Usopp and Chopper mourned the loss of such a good king. After Robin read aloud the over events reported in the newspaper, Luffy told his crew about his oath to Sabo and Ace, as well as about his dream once he becomes the Pirate King, about which Usopp was incredulous.
Days later, the Thousand Sunny entered a turbulent and cold region of the sea and came across a giant warm eddy. Usopp panicked as the wind carried Chopper and Luffy off the ship and toward Jewelry Bonney, who had been trapped in the eddy.[183] At the same time, the Mecha-Shark attacked the ship and ended up capsizing it. While Jinbe swam off to save Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney, the ship and rest of the crew were saved by Lilith and Vegaforce-01. As the robot lifted them out of the water, Lilith explained the shark's purpose and malfunction and introduced herself.[184] Usopp was amazed by the giant robot. Lilith then demanded the pirates' valuables as the other Sea Beast Weapons surfaced, causing Usopp to panic. However, the attack was called off by Shaka, who ordered Lilith to bring the ship to Egghead.[185]
Once they reached the island's Labophase, Usopp, Nami, Robin, Sanji, and Franky disembarked, while Zoro and Brook remained behind to guard the ship. Lilith had the Straw Hats change outfits and don DOM shoes before entering the lab.[186] After the Straw Hats followed Lilith through a door, Lilith disappeared and the door became solid metal again. Usopp criticized Nami's desire to search for treasure, which earned him a kick from her. Edison directed them down a corridor, where they encountered the Seraphim unit, S-Shark. The pirates were confused by the Seraph's appearance like a young Jinbe, but Franky realized he was a type of Pacifista as the Seraph began to attack them. During the fight, Usopp was shocked to see S-Shark use the Sui Sui no Mi ability and Fish-Man Karate. After Usopp stopped S-Shark from attacking Robin, the Seraph snuck up behind Usopp and grabbed him around the throat, but Franky's Radical Beam forced the Seraph to let go. Shaka then ordered S-Shark to stop, ending the other Satellites' experiment, and also activated the magnetic locks of the pirates' DOM shoes, shackling their feet to the floor.
After introducing himself, Shaka began explaining the futuristic yet ancient technology of the island,[187] as well as the events of the Void Century and the World Governments' efforts to erase any record of it and anyone who learned about it, which terrified Usopp. Shaka also related how the Ohara Incident led to Vegapunk visiting Elbaf, the mention of which piqued Usopp's interest. After telling them all that he could, Shaka forced the pirates to follow him[188] to a monitoring room, where they watched Vegapunk talk to Luffy down in the Fabriophase's scrapyard. Usopp recognized Bonney who was with Luffy's group. Pythagoras then ran in, alerting them to the arrival of CP0. Lilith suggested handing the pirates over to Rob Lucci, and Usopp pleaded to be allowed to run away. Not trusting the agents, Shaka ordered Pythagoras to refuse the agents entry.[189]
When CP0 ignored the order and infiltrated the island, Usopp grew more panicked.[190] As Luffy began fighting Lucci, Vegapunk rushed into the room, hoping to see Luffy's white transformation. Vegapunk then explianed that there was no such fruit as the Gomu Gomu no Mi, as well as his theory about Devil Fruits, which flabbergasted Usopp.[191] As they watched the Seraphim attack the government agents, Vegapunk explained how he recreated certain Paramecia-type Devil Fruits with Green Blood, and Usopp questioned why Vegapunk had to make the Seraphim at all. When Vegapunk mentioned that his brilliant mind would pose a threat to anyone it turned against, Nami suggested that they kill him as a precaution, to which Usopp objected. Vegapunk then added that he would be joining them on their ship, which delighted Usopp.[192] Usopp was later shocked when Vegapunk requested seven spots aboard the ship for himself and the Satellites.
Once Luffy's group met up with the rest of the crew, Luffy did not want to leave yet, but Usopp reminded him that Egghead was a government island.[193]
Usopp was shocked and surprised to hear that Rob Lucci invaded the Labophase [194] as well as being amazed by the fact that Vegapunk was able to sneak a spy of his own into the World Government.[195] He was also present when Zoro, Brook and Stussy came into the Laboratory and would overhear Shaka's concerns over the disappearance of the main Vegapunk body. When everybody present split up to find Vegapunk Stella (minus Luffy and Zoro who were guarding Rob Lucci and Kaku), Usopp and Franky paired up with Lilith and York. As the four head to search, they end up finding Pythagoras’ body, albeit with his head missing. Thankfully, Pythagoras turned out to be fine, as he had detached his head from his body before he sustained damage. He starts freaking out over what happened just as York walks over to S-Snake. She tells her to wait outside since Edison ordered her to stand down, but instead, S-Snake petrifies York. A confused Lilith tries to get her to stop, but S-Snake ignores and fires a laser at the four. It destroys the bridge they were on and they all fall, though they land safely.
As S-Snake continues to pursue them, a furious Lilith shoots her with her Bubble Gun. It grazes her shoulder but causes her to fall over, and Lilith says it is because the bubble was made from the energy of the sea, and since S-Snake has Green blood synthesized from an existing Devil Fruit user, she can fall prey to the sea. Franky tries to subdue her but because S-Snake was just grazed, she gets back up quickly and knocks Franky away. She fires a laser at Usopp and Lilith, but Franky traps her under a large bubble. However, S-Snake pleads that she is suffering, causing Franky to drop his guard long enough for S-Snake to break free and petrify part of his body with Perfume Femur. Lilith fires several bubbles at her, but she dodges them all and charms both her and Usopp before turning them completely into stone.[196]
At some point, Usopp was unpetrified and used Den Den Mushi to force York of making a call to Mary Geoise requesting assistance.[197] Following the call to the Five Elders, Usopp took over communications and contacted the Cipher Pol agents in the Labophase basement to behave while things were being figured out. Meanwhile, Vegapunk and Nami discussed a plan to escape to one of the other islands available on their log pose, the next being Elbaf. Usopp and Luffy were both ecstatic to hear this, and danced together while singing about the island of the giants. A plan was conceived, and Usopp remained in the main laboratory alongside the Vegapunks while the stronger members of the crew went off to complete it.[198] Usopp spectated Sentomaru's battle with Kizaru using the Surveillance Den Den Mushi in the main laboratory. He announced Sentomaru's defeat shortly thereafter, and was terrified to learn that Kizaru could enter the Labophase whenever he pleased.[199]
Usopp contacted Franky after hearing the Vegaforce-01 exploding, and was utterly horrified when Kizaru suddenly appeared in the main laboratory, prepared to complete his mission of killing Vegapunk. Before Kizaru could, however, Luffy returned as a giant and grabbed Kizaru, much to everyone's surprise.[200] After Luffy flung Kizaru away, Vegapunk expressed concern when he found out that Jewelry Bonney had been knocked down to the Fabiriophase, and declared that he would assist in saving her. Usopp protested, claiming that it was too risky and that keeping Vegapunk alive was the priority. Usopp was ignored by Vegapunk, who refused to let Bonney be harmed any further. Usopp remained in the main laboratory as Vegapunk left, although he was not safe, as not much later, a light clone of Kizaru arrived and subdued him while wondering where Vegapunk had gone to.[201]
Later, Usopp, Nami, and Chopper attempted to leave the Labophase while carrying Robin in a pod.[202] When informed of the incoming Buster Call by Sanji, Usopp panicked, questioning why the crew had to deal with another one.[203] Through binoculars Usopp spotted Dorry and Brogy arriving at Egghead and cried tears of a joy seeing them again. Usopp expressed gratitude that he saw them before they reached Elbaf, while he also realized from Edison that the Giants must be here due to learning of the incident in the papers and came to rescue them, commenting that they needed to get ready to leave.[204] Afterward, Usopp and the others caught wind of Vegapunk's pre recorded message being signaled across the island.[205] Usopp then managed to save the Thousand Sunny (with Brook and Lilith onboard) from falling off the edge with Midori Boshi: Take Jave Rin, he notified Sanji that the crew is ready to leave but are waiting on Zoro and Jinbe.[206]
