One Piece Wiki

This is a list of all current volumes of the Japanese manga series One Piece, as well as the titles of the chapters contained therein. Chapters are arranged by volume, with their appropriate volume titles and chapters listed underneath. Chapter and volume titles include Japanese text, romaji transcription, and English translation of each title, along with the titles assigned by VIZ Media in its English adaptation.

Background

One Piece is published as a serial in the manga anthology magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump. As the magazine's name suggests, a new issue of Jump (and thus a new chapter of One Piece) is released on a weekly basis. Factoring in double issues of the magazine and personal hiatuses taken by Eiichiro Oda, however, approximately 45-48 chapters are published per year. Three to four months after appearing in Jump, these chapters are then compiled into collected volumes, or tankōbon, which contain between 9 to 11 chapters (excluding vol. 1 which contains 8 chapters as well as vol. 63, vol. 69 and vol.77 which each contain 12 chapters) each and run to approximately 208 pages. These volumes also include new cover artwork, storyboard-phase sketches, a question-and-answer column by the author, a section where the character Usopp comments on reader-submitted fan art, and other bonus features. However, due to the economical limitations of the tankōbon format, any art originally printed in color (other than on the dust jacket) is reproduced in grayscale.

Chapters not yet published in volume format

The following chapters have appeared in Weekly Shōnen Jump but have yet to be reprinted in tankōbon format, as collected volumes of One Piece are generally released every two to three months. Weekly chapters do come with some benefits, such as occasional cover illustrations or color title pages, and supplemental materials such as story information or character Popularity Polls. However, print quality (in terms of both paper and ink) is considerably lower than the collected releases, and artwork can be obscured by ads and other text placed there by the magazine. Buying the magazine on a consistent basis is also far more expensive than waiting for the book-format release.

Trivia

  • Special volumes were given to those who attended the theatrical releases of two One Piece Movies.
  • Chapter 0 is the first and only chapter so far to have a double tankobon release, in both Volume 0 and fifth databook, One Piece Blue Deep.
  • Currently, only volumes 21, 42, and 77 do not have Luffy on the cover, all of which are covers that contrast the antagonists of a particular arc with the Straw Hats on the following cover (Baroque Works on Vol. 21, Cipher Pol 9 on Vol. 42, Donquixote Pirates on Vol. 77).
  • Volume 33, so far, is the only volume to not be named after a chapter that it contains.
  • Even though Sogeking appears on the cover of Volume 38, he is only in the last page of the comic.
  • Ever since the Straw Hat Pirates entered the Grand Line, there has been a chapter named after the islands where they have an adventure called "Adventure on ____" and occasionally there are chapters named after other places in this format such as when they were in the Florian Triangle and recently when they dove into the ocean. Places where there was no adventure (such as Enies Lobby and Marineford) do not have a chapter name in this format.
  • Volume 46's cover art was originally featured on an issue of Shonen Jump Magazine's cover, adjustments were made for the cover such as adding Brook.
  • Each volume cover has a different header, changing in color each time. The one that breaks this cycle is Volume 50. Volume 50 changes from the standard title, then picture synopsis, to a picture (of Nami), the title (that is surrounded in flames), and is then followed up with the pictures of Zoro, Luffy, and Brook. This change was likely done to commemorate the fiftieth volume of One Piece.
  • Only three story arcs (the Romance Dawn Arc, the Reverse Mountain Arc, and the Return to Sabaody Arc) have been published entirely within one volume.
  • As of now, there are two versions of Volume 58. The first print is noted as an editor's mistake, cropping certain double spreads that are meant to run off the page. The second version was released a day after, fixing the problem to remain similar to the Weekly Shonen Jump version.
  • Volume 61's cover mirrors Volume 1's cover in that it displays Luffy, Nami, and Zoro, with the addition of the rest of the crew and Thousand Sunny following the timeskip, as they were on the cover of volume 1. They also share similar titles.
  • Volume 63, 69, and 77 are the only volumes to contain 12 chapters.
  • The actual covers for each volume are usually a sepia version of the colored dusk jacket. However there are some exceptions:
    • Volumes 15, 19, 21, 28, 38, 52 have an image of Pandaman instead. The covers for Volumes 21, 28, 71 and 77 covers were the same as the colored covers, but Pandaman replaced other characters. 52 had not just Pandaman, but many other Easter Egg characters that have been mentioned in the SBS. Pandaman can also be found on inside covers for volumes 69 and 72-76.
    • Starting from Volume 25, Oda has started drawing a small ongoing story on the inside back cover of his Volumes that can barely be spotted using his Easter Egg characters (with the exception of Volumes 36-38 being blank due to Pandaman being eaten by a large fish, and Volumes 63 and 64 being covered by the message of encouragement and a cover page printed across the page). Pandaman appears from Volume 25-current excluding Volumes 36-38 and 63-4, but other characters peek in from time to time as well including Unforgivable Mask (46-51), Domo-kun (53-61) who once goes offscreen on Volume 57, Nnke-Kun (54-61), and the long polar bear Easter Egg with an unknown name from 59-current (excluding Volumes 63-4).
    • The back side of the inside cover of Volume 17 has a very small image of Chopper peeking out (from the wrong side, as usual) the bottom corner on the left side.
    • Volume 56 instead has two drawings of Luffy in STRONG WORLD outfits, one on each side of the cover.
    • Volume 62 instead has an image of the Straw Hat Pirates that had previously been drawn by Oda as a message of encouragement following the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in 2011. The page had messages such as "We're OK!" and "Fight!". The title of the book has been moved to the back side of the cover most likely due to space problems.
    • Volume 63's inside cover also differed from the dusk jacket, showing Otohime's grave and Shirahoshi inside Megalo's mouth with Luffy on top. On the backside of the inside cover was another encouraging message from the Straw Hats telling readers to "Cheer up!".
    • Volume 64's backside of the inside cover has the sepia version of the coulorspread cover page of Chapter 622.
  • So far, there are only four unnamed characters who have been appeared on the cover of a volume. They are on the covers of Volume 25 (Sengoku's goat and the unnamed digger) and Volume 74 (Senor Pink's groupies).
