Sanji tries to divide his small portion of food wisely, but after 25 days he only have one piece of bread left and he only saw one ship that did not even see him. After 70 days, weak and hopeless, he decides to reach Zeff to steal him some of his food. When he arrives to the the other side, he can see that the pirate bag is still almost full, but when he opens it, it is only filled with treasures. Sanji then realise that Zeff have given him all the food and that he only survived by eating his own leg. When asked why he act such foolishly while they hate eachother, the pirate reveals that, he too, is believing in All Blue and that he was trying to find it in Grand Line. But now, without crew, he cannot realise this dream anymore, and decide that instead, if they are rescued somehow, he will retire from piracy and start a restaurant. The miracle occurs, after 85, the ship Sanji had seen, comes back and saves them.

Back in the present, Sanji behaviour makes more sense : In the memory of the old man that saved his life, he will not allow anymone to kill him or steal his last dream.
