Blue Gorillas, nicknamed Blugori by the Impel Down guards and prisoners, are large masked gorilla-like beasts with skulls painted on where their faces should be. They are under the command of Saldeath, who controls them with a flute.

[edit] Appearance
All Blue Gorillas are masked, have a skull painted onto their head and are relatively large in size. They all look the same and each carries a large doubleheaded axe. In the manga, they have blue cloaks with dark blue fur, black skull mark on the face is white on the "skull nose" and yellow on the eyes, and appear to have yellow flat somewhat cubed hands and feet, as obvious to their namesakes. However, in the anime opening, they have white cloak with black fur on the lower half brown fur on the wrists, skull mark on the face was colored somewhere light black while the "skull nose" and eyes were red. This error was eventually fixed in their first official appearance.
[edit] Abilities and Powers
Though they are mindless, Blue Gorillas possess immense strength and speed. They mainly act as guards on level 1 of Impel Down, but can be summoned to other levels when necessary. The Blue Gorilla are very accomplished swimmers, even underwater, and are also seen attacking Sea Kings for food supplies.
They fight using their fists and also the large axes which they are often seen carrying.

During the Impel Down arc, the Blue Gorillas try to stop Luffy and Buggy in their intrusion where one kept slicing Buggy in two, who only yelled at it to stop doing that, but they are easily defeated by Luffy. Lately, when Emporio Ivankov's massive riot begins, the Blue Gorilla along with their leader Saldeath try to stop the prisoners. The Blue Gorillas show their great strength by defeating a lot of prisoners from Level 4, but a single hit from Iva is enough to knock them out.
