Black Market
From One Piece Encyclopedia
The term Black Market is given to the large scale selling of goods through illegal means.
In the real world, the terms origins are tied with the rationalizing of goods in Great Britain during World War 2 when things like eggs and bacon were on limited sale only. Often people paid to purchase these items through illegal methods rather then use rations to buy them. Many of those who worked for the Black Market gained their items by stealing them directly from shops or farms that owned them.
For the most part Black Markets thrive in War torn countries and can involve the trade of anything from goods to people (either as slaves or Prostitutes).
[edit] Black Markets in One Piece
One Piece is not foreign to the idea of a black market; in order to purchase Adam Wood, Franky had to use this illegal trading method.
